I suspected this could be related to the PAE kernel, and wanted to see
if this had been corrected in the latest version, so I asked someone
with the hardware to test this. I'm posting the following on behalf of
someone else who has tested this hardware:

-Using the 11.04 32-bit Live CD, after choosing suspend, the machine freezes at 
checking the battery state as OK.
-The machine is not responsive to inputs and can only be shut down ungracefully.
-This is a regression as earlier versions, perhaps the previous release (Ubuntu 
10.04) supported suspend properly on the GIGABYTE P35-DS3L
