Why assume this is Pidgin-specific? Shouldn't all packages be built with build-hardening enabled?
And indeed. looking at /proc/$pid/maps for two bash processes on 11.04 shows that the libraries, heap, and stack are randomized but the bash image itself is the same both times. So, I'd suspect this problem is not limited to Pidgin, and you should re-open the bug, and re-ensure that all programs are built with PIE all the time. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/847381 Title: pidgin not built PIE To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/pidgin/+bug/847381/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
