Somehow this problem seems to be specific to my notebook. Tried the same on several other machines running dapper and feisty, but couldn't reproduce the problem there. No idea, wha's wrong with my configuration.
One reason might be, that these other machines are all using evdev- drivers for the keyboard whereas mine uses the kbd-driver. Reasonable?
