I can confirm this bug (it is obviously pretty annoying) and the
workaround mentioned above does not work for me and should not be
considered a permanent fix.

Chipset is the mentioned above (Atheros 9287), at least lspci tells me
that, I am right now not able to confirm this (Card is a TP-Link TL-
WN851N PCI).

System freezes appear as soon as I try to transfer a "a lot" of data (no
measurements for specific limit where it breaks done yet, but considering it),
e.g: a 720p youtube video will cause a freeze in less than 10 seconds, running
transmission to download a dvd-image will show repeated loss of connection
(while the connection itself seems up and running no data is transferred,
reconnecting to the wlan fixes that temporarily) but eventually the system
freezes in less than 5 minutes.
Freezes can sometimes occur even earlier (when connecting, reconnecting,
logging in, etc).

It also happens with kernel 3.0, fedora 15, live-cd (kernel 2.6.38-8)
(in fact i run ubuntu from the natty live-cd right now and connect it to
the internet through my macbook), so I guess it is a bug in one of the
modules related to ath9k or even ath9k itself and it affects all recent
kernel versions. I am not willing to downgrade to a kernel version even
older than the versions shipped with the natty live-cd.

It might help to know that i am connecting to a WPA2/Personal-protected
network and the signal is on the weaker side. It seems to be more than
enough on windows though (and the connection is by far more reliable).

It does NOT happen if: I remove the ath9k module, I run Windows, or
wireless is disabled in the the menu/widget (and I connect to the
internet through the wired connection).

I am trying to pin down what exactly happens within the module that
causes the freezing, but there is no output on the serial console
before/when it happens, besides the occasional "ath: Failed to stop TX
DMA in 100 msec after killing last frame" (see bug #736171), and my
keyboard lacks a SysRq-Key while I was not successful assigning another
key to SysRq, and my PS/2 Keyboard won't work for whatever reason...

I will now append the information of the system I am running right now
(natty live-cd), this should be sufficient as it happens with the live-
cd as well, and I will try to upload it with the wireless connection
enabled, so please be patient, my system may freeze several times before
I can successfully upload all information.

** Also affects: linux (Fedora)
