Public bug reported:

Since a few days my gnome-shell desktop does not show all running applications
in the taskswitcher (alt-tab) anymore. This sometimes affects entire
applications (i.e. all terminal windows), sometimes only a subset of them. They
appear in the activities window just fine.
I have no idea what triggers this. They get lost during their runtime and I
have not found a way to bring them back except for closing and reopening the
application.
