Public bug reported: HP DM1 3101EA Ubuntu Oneiric beta 1, all updates as of 21 Sept.
By default (and with changes in the system settings/mouse and touchpad option): Trackpad multi-touch (two finger scroll, for example) works Trackpad tap to click works Right click - does not work at all Click and drag only works within the space of the 'left button' area of the trackpad - doesn't work overall. Problem is resolved by installing the deb (dpkg - i ) at http://www.mdl4.com/2011/07/fix-your-hp-mini-mouse-in-ubuntu-11-04/ and restarting the X server (ctrl-alt-backspace) Subsequent updates will install the 'broken' xserver-xorg-input- synaptics (not sure if it's that package or a config file that's broken) release unless pinned. I'm not technical enough to actually figure the difference, but it transforms the PC from virtually unusable to perfectly normal. If the regression 'fault' in the detection/config of the synaptics trackpad could be incorporated into the next update to the the package, that would be great. I'm more than happy to try any fix and / or to provide whatever additional information might assist. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/856366 Title: Apparent regression in current version: Synaptics trackpad on HP -- right click, click and drag not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/856366/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
