I have the same problem on Xubuntu 11.04. After some length of time, the computer stops responding to pings. Unloading and reloading the rt61pci module fixes it immediately. I have tried two different wireless cards, and both were affected (Edimax and D-Link). I wonder if there is a way to detect this condition somehow? In my case there was no sign of any problem in the dmesg output.
