Public bug reported:

One of my favorite programs to use in Ubuntu is Synaptic. Besides
launching applications and performing other common tasks, it allows you
to perform system operations such as logout, suspend, shutdown, etc very
quickly. I would love to see this same functionality brought to Unity.
The dash should list basic system operations (perhaps in a lens?) in
order to make system operations such as logout and restart more
accessible. These operations could also be pinned to the launcher if so
desired by the user. For example: more advanced users who use unstable
software might prefer to pin the restart function. The bottom line is
that system operations are commonly performed and need to be placed in a
more visible location than tucked away in a menu.

** Affects: unity (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
