Public bug reported:

Hi,

I install Ubuntu 11.04 from USB key, on clean hard disk.

I've this Ethernet controller :

Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8169 Gigabit Ethernet [10ec:8169] (rev 10)
Kernel driver in use : r8169
Kernel modules: r8169

After installation, eth0 link isn't detected.

In dmesg, I've this message :

ADDRCONF(NETDEV_UP): eth0: link is not ready

To fix this issue, I need to append this data in
/etc/modprobe.d/r8169.conf :

install r8169 /sbin/modprobe --ignore-install r8169 && /sbin/ethtool -s
eth0 autoneg off

One difficulty : ethtool isn't installed by default, isn't present in
Ubuntu USB key :(

Regards,
Stephane
