Public bug reported: This is happening with a new Oneiric beta 2 install on an Acer Aspire One 522. When booting, if a network cable is not plugged in, the laptop will lock up when the ethernet card is being probed by network manager.
There are two workarounds I could find: 1- Blacklist the atl1c driver 2- Turn on PXE booting in the BIOS For some reason, when PXE boot is enabled in the bios, the network card gets initialized properly and the lock up does not occur.
