Public bug reported:

Obviously none of the current NVidia drivers (I tried the second and third or
four options) did install on my Dell Inspiron 1420 laptop.
I am using this laptop since latest beginning of 2008 with Ubuntu 64 and never
got any real problem so far (third bug).
