I agree with Miguel that blacklisting was a bad solution. I also had problems with garmin_gps. But meanwhile they seem to be solved! Now I am able to use "gpsbabel -o /dev/ttyUSB0" with my Garmin Forerunner 305.
If you were affected by this bug then please give it another try! Load garmin_gps and try gpsbabel: $ sudo modprobe garmin_gps $ gpsbabel -o /dev/ttyUSB0 ... <your_usual_parameters> Pleas leave a comment here if you still have problems with garmin_gps.
