don't know if it is related to the login system or if it is related to lightdm that crashes, because the second time I insert my credentials the login works..the first time it seems like that lightdm reloads itself.. I have used the login many times and with the same result since I've updated to Ubuntu 11.10.. if it is of some help, at login I choose Ubuntu(not the 2d session) and the session that it opens is Unity-2D..
