Public bug reported:

My monitor goes to sleep soon after grub finishes (purple screen) and
only turns back on as plymouth is finishing, or even after X has
started.

This happens with two different monitors I've tested, and happens
regardless of whether I am using the DisplayPort or VGA.

It also happens regardless of which graphics chip I use - an add-in ATI
card or on-board Intel graphics. This continues to happen on every
single boot in Ubuntu 11.04.
