Public bug reported: Ubuntu Software Center 5.0, Ubuntu 11.10 beta
1. From the home screen, search for "multi". 2. Navigate, in turn, to the software item screens for Multiget, BasKet, ROXTerm, and Empathy. 3. Use "apt-get cache" or Synaptic to examine the descriptions of each of those packages. What you see: 1. Multiget is ranked lower than BasKet, ROXTerm, and Empathy. 2. Multiget uses "multi-" in its description, but the other three do not visibly use it at all. 3. The other three use "multi-" in their synopsis (the first line of their Description: field), but USC does not show this. It is a good idea to give the package synopsis high weighting when searching technical items. It might even be a good idea to include the synopsis as searchable text even when USC won't show it. However, it probably isn't a good idea to do both at the same time. USC shouldn't be giving high weighting to the synopsis for packages where it does not show the synopsis.
