Forgot to say that this seems to be not an NFS bug in my opinion. E.g. I am able to play mp3 files with totem via NFS. While listening I can suspend and resume without problems. Totem even continues playing at that point of the song where it stopped. So it's not a problem in general that an NFS share is in use.
