Although everything is working well, I can still make synaptiks crash
exactly once after each reboot of my laptop:

Boot -> Suspend -> Wakeup -> Crash.

When I then restart synaptiks, I can suspend and resume at will and the
program is dead never crashing again until the next reboot.

As I think this is really weird, I have opened an issue at github for synaptiks 
here:
https://github.com/lunaryorn/synaptiks/issues/23

Anybody witnessing the same strange crashes might contribute there.
