This issue also affects me. Quick and dirty reproduction steps. 1) Remove all network configuration from Network Manager. 2) Manually define a static or dhcp address in /etc/network/interfaces 3) Restart networking /etc/init.d/networking restart 4) Manually define /etc/resolv.conf for your environment 5) Restart NetworkManager /etc/init.d/network-manager restart (you can also reboot your system if you prefer)
Your /etc/resolv.conf has now been overwritten. I also tried unchecking "Enable Wired Networking" in Network Manager and configuring using the above config files and the same behavior occurred. This causes problems with regards to specific network configurations (bridges, vlans) which I personally use for KVM. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/867833 Title: Network Manager overwriting /etc/resolv.conf with no information when static IP configured for ipv4 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/867833/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
