I totally agree, I'm also stuck with this lack of feature. I actually love unity, it fits both my desktop and tablet. However it's a bit ironic that even though it's made to match multiple device, the menu does not fit on my netbook or tablet. If icons were resizable, and the dash window as well, all would be perfect. See screenshot.
