A "Occasional"(in natty) in my case becomes a Permanet block after the upgrade to oneiric and yes i had ticked for home encryption in natty. All workarounds(except maybe for a clean Ubuntu reinstall) i found(like http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1365261) matters a medium experience user certainly not a first time ubuntu user. So IMHO maybe is better hide the (install step) option to encypt until devs solves(address) the problem
