Right, while I don't mind running upstream kernels, I'm not sure this will 
happen again.
It was completely random, I've rebooted many times with that kernel, and I have 
no way to reproduce it.
So what I'll do is actually to keep running the Ubuntu kernel and see if I can 
get it to happen again.
If it does I'll try with the upstream kernel a bit.
And I've put the bugreport here so hopefully other people can find it if it 
happens to them.
