If I try to setup an encrypted folder by following the setup guide
below[1], I get asked for my login passphrase which it then does not
accept even though it is correct.

This may be because I am using a user profile which is authenticated
through likewise-open.  On the same machine a local user profile was
setup with an encrypted home folder on startup. That part is working
fine.
