Public bug reported:
Immediately after the upgrade from ubuntu 10.04 to the ubuntu 11.10 I
noticed that the texts on the top panel are ugly, texts in the side
auto-hiding panel are ugly and cut at the end and texts in the unity's
GUIs are also ugly. All the other texts (nautilus, firefox, other
applications) are in good condition. Making some experiments with font
configuration I've found out that the problem is caused by autohinting.
(I like more the autohinted look of texts on my screen). Enabling the
autohinting makes the texts ugly on all Unity's GUIs. It looks like
enabling the autohinting disables antialiasing or so.
