Public bug reported:

VLC opens fine the first time after installing the package, but after
closing it, and opening any media file through vlc, it segfaults.
Opening vlc without a media file works fine, but drag and drop a media
file on it: segfault. Here's the console output:

 vlc ./Media.File.Name.Hidden.mkv
VLC media player 1.1.12 The Luggage (revision exported)
Blocked: call to unsetenv("DBUS_ACTIVATION_ADDRESS")
Blocked: call to unsetenv("DBUS_ACTIVATION_BUS_TYPE")

use vlc without interface.

(process:9300): Gtk-WARNING **: Locale not supported by C library.
        Using the fallback 'C' locale.
Blocked: call to setenv("_PX_CONFIG_ORDER", "", 1)
Segmentation fault

Same error upon drag and drop too.

Interestingly, deleting the vlc folder in ~/.config, and then starting
vlc, works totally fine. But same problem manifests after it is closed.

** Affects: vlc (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
