Public bug reported: I hope I'm filing this against the correct package.
In Oneiric, very few system sounds play. I hear button-clicking sounds if I have those on, and there is a small "beep" when Thunderbird gets a new mail, and IM sounds from Empathy work. But more general, system-wide sounds aren't playing at all. For instance, if I open gedit, type in some words, then try to close it, the warning dialog that pops up asking me to save isn't accompanied by the drum sound I expect. In dconf-editor, under org.gnome.desktop.sound, I do have the "theme- name" value set to "ubuntu", and I can play these sounds with canberra commands such as: /usr/bin/canberra-gtk-play --id="dialog-warning" But in practice there are few (if any) of these system sounds. ** Affects: gnome-session (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/883691 Title: (Most) Oneiric system sounds do not play To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/883691/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
