Some other precision:

With HAL 0.5.9 and msi-laptop module loaded, there is a LCD brightness
slider in Gnome power manager applet (GPMA). However this slider doesn't
provide the expected effect when switching on battery/AC. I have to use
the 05-brightness.sh scripts (see previous post) to allow a correct LCD
screen brightness to be set when switching to battery/AC.

With HAL 0.5.9 but msi-laptop module not loaded, thers is no LCD
brightness slider in GPMA.

With HAL 0.5.8.1 no matter if msi-laptop module is loaded or not, thers
is no LCD brightness slider in GPMA.

I tried to remove the scripts/msi-laptop module and reload it and for
some reasons I cannot replicate the problem anymore.....but the system
appears to be in the same state as before.
