Public bug reported:

I am working on an experimental package for Subversion 1.7, which can
use serf for HTTP communication now, however the file
debian/libserf1.symbols contains a strange dependency, which prevents
linking successfully against it in the subversion packages:

----------------------
libserf-1.so.0 libserf1 #MINVER#
| libserf-private
* Build-Depends-Package: libserf-dev
....
----------------------

Only when I update the serf-packages and remove the line with "libserf-
private", I can compile and link successfully against the libraries from
the serf-package.

This happens in the version libserf1-1.0.0-2, which is currently used in
both Oneiric and Precise.

** Affects: serf (Ubuntu)
     Importance: Undecided
         Status: New
