Public bug reported:
Running on i386 on Natty. Using qemu-user-static 0.14.50-2011.03-1-0ubuntu2. Bug occurs only on i386 Natty. amd64 Natty does not show described behaviour, neither does Oneiric i386. The attached script creates an armel chroot directory using qemu- debootstrap and then tries to install 'openssh-server' inside the chroot (by implicitly using the binfmt emulation). If the script is invoked directly: "sudo ./qemufail.sh" it does not fail. If the script is invoked indirectly via make it fails: "sudo make qemufail" with a Makefile containing "qemufail: \n ./qemufail.sh", it returns: Setting up openssh-server (1:5.8p1-1ubuntu3) ... Creating SSH2 RSA key; this may take some time ...qemu: uncaught target signal 11 (Segmentation fault) - core dumped Segmentation fault ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.04 Package: qemu-user-static 0.14.50-2011.03-1-0ubuntu2 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.38-12.51-generic 2.6.38.8 Uname: Linux 2.6.38-12-generic i686 Architecture: i386 Date: Sat Nov 5 23:06:17 2011 Dependencies: InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 11.04 "Natty Narwhal" - Release i386 (20110427.1) ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=en_US:en LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: qemu-linaro UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: qemu-linaro (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 natty -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/886690 Title: qemu segfaults in armel chroot on i386 host To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/qemu-linaro/+bug/886690/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
