I have used the fact that the SD card I have works in Windows to re-format it (as the default DOS 32 format) and reloaded some files onto it to ensure the card wasn't corrupted. It works OK in Windows Vista but still isn't recognized (or even detected) in Ubuntu 11.10. I can only conclude the upgrade of the kernel to 3.0.0.12 misses these devices. John
