Public bug reported: I'm using both Xubuntu 11.04 and 11.10, and the "Screensaver" settings (accessed through System Settings) are very slow, and apparently read or write from the hard disk at each click, whether trying to change a setting or to do anything else. Just try moving the time for the screensaver to become active by several minutes quickly and watch your disk activity indicator LED. There is no reason the disk should need to be accessed with each click.
