Now, i am definitely a unix novice, but i got some sound out through my HDMI to my TV by doing this:
1. terminal> alsamixer 2. in the mixer: F6 to select sound card: 3. i selected '0', enter to confirm - (default) 0 HDA NVidia enter device name 4. Esc to exit Now when i went to system sound properties, i could hear my chosen alert sound, and the 'test speakers' also worked for left and right. All i need to do now is get surround sound like ac3 passing through to my tv (and on to my amp) and i'll be a happy Ubuntu, and ultimatly XBMC user. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/857408 Title: [ER1401, Nvidia MCP77/78 HDMI, Digital Out, HDMI] No sound at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/857408/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
