This may be a gtk or some other under-lying element's issue, as I have noticed the behavior on other applications; however, it is by far most noticeable in Pidgin. Applications such as Firefox do exhibit the behavior; however, they only resize by a few pixels (barely noticeable), not hundreds of pixels like with Pidgin.
