Hmmm --- I have installed manually it:

fglrx-amdcccle-updates 2:8.881-0ubuntu6.1
fglrx-updates 2:8.881-0ubuntu6.1

(and still additional drivers says that it's not activated). Maybe it's
expecting a module called fglrx-updates when the module is called simply
fglrx? (wild guess). The first relevant WARNING in jockey.log file is:

: modinfo for module fglrx_updates failed: ERROR: modinfo: could not
find module fglrx_updates

hmmm? The module I have installed says it's a 11.9 (is this correct?)

BTW now it is working OK with Unity, not working with Gnome shell
