I have investigated your problem and cannot reproduce it with Oneiric. There the PDF file is correctly created and evince (Document Viewer) displays it. Note that on the transition between Ghostscript 9.01 and 9.04 several segmentation faults got fixed (see /usr/share/doc/ghostscript/changelog.Debian.gz. Probably this bug is a duplicate of one of the bugs mentioned there, but I do not know of which one. Therefore I simply mark this bug as fixed.
Ghostscript segfaults when trying to display the PDF file generated from your paper.ps in Oneiric (11.10). In Precise (current development branch, will be released as 12.04 in April next year) the PDF file gets correctly displayed by Ghostscript. Significant difference between the Oneiric and Precise packages is the color management library used. Oneiric's Ghostscript uses the discontinued and unmaintained liblcms1 whereas the Ghostscript in Precise is migrated to the up-to-date liblcms2. Probably the new Ghostscript package does not segfault due to a fix in the new color management library. You can get a Ghostscript using the new liblcms2 for Oneiric from my PPA (https://launchpad.net/~till-kamppeter/+archive/ppa) but it does not contain the fixes of bug 890270 and bug 879977. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/890762 Title: Converting ps file to pdf causes segmentation fault in gs To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ghostscript/+bug/890762/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
