This is happening to me since I replaced my previous graphics card with a Radeon HD 6870. I'm using the latest drivers found on the AMD website. Operating system: Ubuntu 11.10 64bit, clean system (fresly installed) with latest updates.
When switching between users, the screen goes blank, and a hard reset is required.
