Public bug reported:

When i select 'gnome-classic (no effects) from the lightdm login screen,
the Gnome version (version 2?) does not allow me anymore to put icons on
the top panel. Not anymore via the right-mouse-button by selecting an
application in the menu, nor by right-mouse-button selection on the
panel (there is no menu there anymore).

Why has this disappeared?
The Unity interface is REALLY not user-friendly for people that need their
computer to work instead of playing games and tweaking wobbling windows.
