Thanks John, that's an interesting alternative.

The concept of lenses in the launcher was in natty , but I personally
didnt use it as i considered it duplication of the dash button (and now
removed in oneiric), but am sure some will find it useful or want the
feature back.

After some more thought, the real problem am experiencing is actually an
annoying bug in the dash which doesn't remember the last lens the user
is browsing and always defaults back to the home lens.

The dash lenses do remember the filters i used or the term i was
searching for, which is a big plus! , but it doesnt remember the lens i
was browsing...

So is not really that i needed to "override" the home lens for another
lens, i just needed it to remember *what* i was doing and *where* i was.

After you close the session or after 10 or 15 mins of "dash inactivity"
is Ok if it goes back to the home lens, but not after second...

Am not sure if this was already reported, i will search and if not I'll
submit the issue.
