My experience is that things are OK if I run the df command from a local terminal window as a standard user or as root.
However, if I ssh in from another machine, while I can run the df command without error if I do a sudo -s first, I still get the error if I just try it as a normal user. As of (maybe) two weeks ago, the problem did not occur at all.
