The problem might be with the rabbitmq service user and lightdm. Lightdm can't log out because there is another "user" still logged in.
If you change from lightdm to use gdm does it help? - sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm (select gdm) - (reboot) This bug might be related https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-session/+bug/855556 although rabbitmq is a "system user" and they are talking about "real users". Very similar kind of bug has been discussed before.
