I use automatic login since I am the only user/account on this desktop. The problem happened after each closing and reopening of nautilus under my login. I did not try 'sudo nautilus'. The wrong icon (file icon) was also displaying for the two folders on my Unity desktop. After rebooting 11.10, nautilus behaved normally and has continued to work as expected. Sorry...since the problem seems to be permanently resolved, I cannot create a screenshot. Corrupt memory or cache?
