Workarounds suggested are valid temporary options, however this bug is critical to be resolved if btrfs is to be widely adopted for conversion of existing root filesystems that have been updated from previous versions of ubuntu. The conversion itself is quite smooth and painless, however the boot loader should not require the partition to be moved (if technically feasible)
