I have exact the same problem. I upgrade my ubuntu 11.04 to 11.10 yesterday. Now I can only boot my Acer Extensa 2902LMi with the grub option acpi=off. _ The same problem I had had as I installed ubuntu 11.04 a few months ago. See this bug report: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/759103
The problem with ubuntu 11.04 was gone after kernel update 2.6.38. So perhaps the cause of the boot problem with ubuntu 11.10 is the same as by ubuntu 11.04. If anybody know what was the change in kernel 2.6.38 for ubuntu 11.04 this change could help to solve the boot problem in ubuntu 11.10 too. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/883441 Title: Kernel 3.0 (11.10 default kernel) won't boot unless acpi=off, worked fine with the default kernels of the 3 previous releases To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/883441/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
