Public bug reported:

While using the Gnome Shell environment in Ubuntu 11.10, Gnome Shell
will randomly restart (similar to the 'Alt+F2, then typing r behaviour).
I have noted other bugs that say that this occurs , but eventually the
desktop does not reload, I have not seen this behaviour occur as Gnome
Shell has always reloaded.
