It looks like there's a pretty good chance this is an ALPS touchpad. I've uploaded a test package that I'd like you to try. It's highly likely this package won't work and will make your touchpad unusable while you are testing it, so I suggest you have an external USB mouse available while testing.
Prerequisite steps for testing: 1. Run the command 'sudo apt-get install input-utils' in a terminal After that, please download the following file: http://people.canonical.com/~sforshee/lp877666/psmouse-alps-dkms /psmouse-alps-dkms_0.11_all.deb Then follow the following procedure for testing. 1. Open a terminal, navigate to the directory where you downloaded the file, and run the command 'sudo apt-get install psmouse-alps-dkms_0.11_all.deb' 2. Run the command 'sudo modprobe -r psmouse' followed by 'sudo modprobe psmouse' 3. Before trying to use the touchpad, run'sudo dmesg -c > dmesg1.txt' 4. Try using the touchpad and trackstick, noting what happens when using each If the trackstick and touchpad are working, go ahead and report back your results here, including the dmesg1.txt file. If it isn't working or behaves erratically, continue with the following steps. 5. In a terminal, run 'echo 1 | sudo tee /sys/module/psmouse/parameters/alps_dump_packets' 6. Wiggle your finger around on the touchpad a bit, then run 'sudo dmesg -c > dmesg2.txt Then post your results along with dmesg1.txt and dmesg2.txt here. To get back to your original state when you're finished, run the following three commands: sudo apt-get remove psmouse-alps-dkms sudo modprobe -r psmouse sudo modprobe psmouse If that doesn't get your touchpad working, try rebooting.
