"Click to focus is the only supported focus model in 11.10 (and older
releases?). In the same sense as having a global menu bar isn't an
option anymore, click to focus isn't an option either."

I've use focus follows mouse and autoraise for about 20 years, and I'll
go to some lengths to configure my system so as to be able continue to
use it...

Global menus don't sit well with such a configuration - so to be able to
configure them off (or limited) would be good. And I also quite Manny's
suggestion of #106.

More generally (and probably off topic) I somewhat lament the trend
towards non-configurability in today's desktops. They look pretty, and
work to the design team's vision of how a desktop should be, but not all
users share that vision in all respects. I suppose I should write my own
to suit myself, but really, all I want to do is edit a config file to
make the desktop comfortable for me, and get on with my work.. </rant>
