Public bug reported: When installing the current Oneiric version (Ubuntu 11.10) on ARM AC100 (Japanese model AZ/05M PDN01N-00H01C), as described on https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ARM/TEGRA/AC100, choosing the Japanese keyboard hangs the installer, as well as attempts to use keyboard recognition hang it. In the former case the keyboard version offered was English (Nigerian), in the latter case the keyboard was "recoginised" as Turkish --- in both cases it's not possible to go to the next installation step, and switching to a virtual console asked for an unknown (to me) root password.
Unfortunately I cannot provide logs, as they were not preserved after reboots. The installer trouble might be due to code_tab_102us hardcoded in drivers/input/keyboard/nvec_kbd.c (more precisely, in drivers/staging/nvec/nvec-keytable.h). Such a table is probably slightly different for the keyboard of AZ/05M (which is a usual Japanese laptop keyboard, which was used to known as jp106 keyboard, aka JIS JP106). --------------------------- Just in case: The workaround is to select the US English keyboard (which disables several keys, such as \ and |), proceed with the installation, and then install an appropriate Xmodmap file (I just put the following in ~/.Xmodmap keycode 84 = backslash underscore keycode 81 = bar brokenbar ) ** Affects: oem-config (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: ac100 keyboard tegra ** Summary changed: - installed does not recognize kbd on Japanese ac100 + installer does not recognize kbd on Japanese ac100 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/903562 Title: installer does not recognize kbd on Japanese ac100 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/oem-config/+bug/903562/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
