reproducible  = yes    -  ubuntu 12.04

it is just a startup setting left over from older versions of ntop

in the /etc/init.d/ntop file comment out the line -p
/etc/ntop/protocol.list

this will then create ip traffic columns for things such as twitter,
facebook etc...
instead of the static listing in the protocol.list

reproducible yes

how to install

apt-get install ntop
    ntop is started by /etc/init.d/ntop

use browser - go to http://127.0.0.1:3000 ( ntop starts web
service on port 3000 by default )
        - using menu at top of web page
              - go to IP -> Summary -> Traffic
              - review column headers

comment out the line I indicated above in /etc/init.d/ntop startup
script

service ntop restart ( restart ntop service )

    refresh browser page
       - you should now see columns for twitter , facebook etc...

looks like an old startup script from earlier version of ntop
