Public bug reported:
Installed Oneiric Ocelot on an Alpha 32 bit laptop with 16gB memory, Omega 3D Video controller, 4gB Video memory and Omicron screen display with a 640 X 480 native display resolution. Display during installation and post- installation operations went OK. Monitor preferences were adjustable. Then started the system tests. Connected an Epsilon external monitor to the VGA port of the laptop. This resulted in a broken display, which is shown in the attachment problem1.png I could access the 'Monitor Preferences' application to perhaps try different display settings. Power cycled the laptop. The problem persisted. Disconnected the external monitor and power cycled the laptop. The operations were normal in the single monitor mode. Connected the Epsilon monitor to a Zeta 32bit desktop, running Oneiric Ocelot, with Video controller and memory similar to the laptop. The display was OK. No problems were seen with Unity 2D or Nattie Narwhal either. The external monitor could be connected OK. In addition to problem1.png, I have attached the following logs. syslog dmesg kern.log Xorg.0.log messages gconfd.log Note: 1. In the screen capture image, it may be noticed that the width of the offending wide, narrow and dark grey rectangle equals the width of the 'Monitor Preferences' application. So a horizontal shift somewhere in the driver code may rectify the problem. 2. problem may be related to Bug # 830949 ** Affects: compiz (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/905128 Title: Unity 3D test failed when attaching external monitor To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/compiz/+bug/905128/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
