Ubuntu better.
You said that you weren't happy with the configuration before you
removed slapd. Does this mean that you believe that the configuration
was broken, and you are attempting to clear out the configuration and
start again?
Are you familiar between the difference between the removed and purged
states? Instead of apt-get remove slapd ldap-utils, are you able to try
apt-get remove --purge slapd ldap-utils? Note that this will wipe all
configuration of slapd and ldap-utils, so make a backup first if you
need these.
Could you please clarify if the bug that you are reporting is that you
can't reinstall slapd from a clean slate, or if something else, then
what exactly?
