Public bug reported:

I am trying to install Mint 11 on a ThinkPag Edge:
AMD Fusin E-350 (2x1.6Ghz)
ATI Radeon 6850
4 GB DDR3 RAM
320GB Sata

I am instlaling it from a 1Gb USB flash drive (since this laptop has no
optical drive). I am using the nocodecs 64bit cd-iso.

The installation is running fine until it says
"installing the grub2 package..."
Then it crashes immediately and a popup says
"Installation crahed" and tells me to report the bug here.

Installing grub2 before the installation changes nothing, even though it
seems to work...

sudo apt-get install grub2
